What are candle dust covers and how are they made?

Candle dust covers are die-cut paper discs or shapes printed with your branding and placed over the top of candle vessels. We have dies for many standard candle sizes and can make custom dies for unique measurements.

Letterpress candle packaging overview

Standard sizes

We hold dies for many standard candle vessel sizes. On the first slide of our sizing guide, you'll find standard dust cover dimensions. If your vessel doesn't match a standard size, we can make a custom die with a small die charge — and we keep your die on file so there's no additional die charge on future orders.

Wick hole options

Standard wick hole options are available for your dust cover. We can also make custom dies for unique wick hole styles. Contact us with your vessel dimensions and we'll confirm which die best fits your candle.

What about candle labels?

We print candle labels on a variety of paper and label stock — letterpress, foil stamping, or digital printing. Labels can be die-cut to custom shapes and combined with a self-adhesive backing.

Using an in-house process, we can combine any premium paper stock with a self-adhesive sticker backing. This means you're not limited to standard label stock — we can put almost any paper, including cotton and specialty handmade papers, onto your candle vessels as a printed label.

What printing techniques are available for candle packaging?

  • Letterpress — deep impression into cotton or specialty paper
  • Foil Stamping — gold, silver, copper, rose gold, white, black, and more; opaque on any paper color
  • Digital Flat Printing — full color; ideal for photography, watercolor artwork, or complex multi-color designs
  • White Ink Digital — opaque white on dark or colored papers
  • Blind Debossing — subtle tactile impression without ink
  • Combined techniques — foil and letterpress together on the same label or dust cover
